Samsung Reportedly Plans Record Eight Flagships in 2027 With "4+4" Strategy

Samsung is reportedly preparing its most ambitious flagship year yet. According to a new report from Korean outlet ETNews, the company could launch eight premium Galaxy smartphones in 2027 under a so-called "4+4" strategy. If accurate, it would set a record for the number of flagships Samsung has released in a single year.

Two Waves of Releases

The report claims Samsung will split its launches into two major waves. The first half of 2027 is expected to be led by the Galaxy S series, which would expand to four models instead of the usual three: the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, the flagship Galaxy S27 Ultra, and — for the first time — a Galaxy S27 Pro. These are expected to be announced at an Unpacked event in the first quarter.

Four Foldables in the Second Half

The back half of the year is reportedly reserved for foldables. Alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 9, Galaxy Z Fold 9, and Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra, Samsung is said to be preparing the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 — the second generation of its most ambitious foldable design. According to SamMobile, the TriFold successor could launch in July 2027 with a 9.96-inch main display in a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 6.49-inch cover screen.

The TriFold Steps Out of Limited Release

The first Galaxy Z TriFold launched this year as a luxury, limited-availability device — Samsung reportedly produced only around 30,000 units. For the 2027 model, production is expected to scale up significantly, especially as Apple is rumored to be entering the segment with an iPhone Ultra.

What About the Z Flip Series

The report also appears to push back on recent rumors that the Z Flip line could be discontinued. Earlier reports suggested the Galaxy Z Flip 8 might be Samsung's last clamshell foldable, but the inclusion of a Galaxy Z Flip 9 in the 2027 roadmap indicates the company plans to keep the series alive.

Some outlets have tied Samsung's expanded strategy to the iPhone's 20th anniversary, which Apple will mark in 2027 — though there's no direct confirmation of this.
